- Public Safety Diver
Public safety divers are a unique breed. Many of them start out as recreational divers, but their desire to serve their local communities drives them to join volunteer and paid public safety diver teams. These teams provide emergency, rescue, and investigative services to the public.
The NAUI Public Safety Diver program is an entry-level course that teaches the fundamental skills needed by public safety divers during underwater search, rescue, and recovery operations. The course is designed for current and future members of PSD teams.
Get Started
Minimum age for these courses is 18 years plus certification as a NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver or equivalent, a minimum of 20 open water scuba dives and current certification in first aid and CPR at the professional rescuer level. Contact us for additional details regarding prerequisites and requirements for this program.
Planning Ahead
Continue your training by becoming a professional member of NAUI. Many PSD teams rely on in-house NAUI Divemasters and Instructors for increased safety and training. Enroll in a NAUI FIT course to learn more about NAUI membership and to evaluate your readiness to join the most elite diver training agency in the world.
