- Gas Blender & O2 Service Technician
Traditionally, scuba diving has been done using compressed air. However, NAUI has approved the use of enriched air nitrox and helium-based mixes for specific diving applications. As the popularity of mixed gas diving has increased, the diving profession has kept pace by training professional gas blenders who can provide the gases that divers need today.
NAUI offers training programs for divers and dive industry personnel who need to prepare these gases locally. NAUI offers two distinct programs for gas blenders:
Nitrox Gas Blender and Oxygen Service Technician
This course is designed to provide the student with the skills and knowledge needed to safely handle high pressure gases, prepare enriched air (nitrox) gas mixes and prepare equipment for oxygen service.
Mixed Gas Blender and Oxygen Service Technician
This course contains similar content to the Nitrox Gas Blender program but includes the additional skill of handling and preparing helium-based mixed gases.
Get Started
Minimum age for these programs is 18 years of age. No other certifications or previous experience is required.
Planning Ahead
NAUI technical divers can maintain or improve skills through a variety of NAUI programs or by becoming a professional member of NAUI by enrolling in the NAUI FIT program or NAUI Instructor Training Course (ITC).
