RAID - Deep 40
RAID Deep 40 Course
Extend your diving capabilities with the RAID Deep 40 specialty course. This program trains certified divers to plan and conduct safe no-decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters (130 feet), focusing on the unique challenges of deeper recreational diving.
The course combines self-paced online theory with practical open water training, emphasizing planning, risk management, gas consumption, narcosis awareness, and specialized procedures.
Benefits of the RAID Deep 40 Course
The RAID Deep 40 provides access to the maximum recreational depth while prioritizing safety. Benefits include:
- Depth Qualification: Dive to 40 meters (130 feet), accessing wrecks, deeper walls, and unique marine ecosystems.
- Advanced Planning Skills: Master deep dive preparation, gas management, and emergency procedures.
- Risk Awareness: Understand and mitigate effects like nitrogen narcosis, increased gas consumption, and decompression risks.
- Enhanced Proficiency: Improve buoyancy, ascent control, and overall deep diving competence.
- Preparation for Progression: Serves as a foundation for technical diving courses like Deco 40.
Prerequisites
- Minimum age: 15 years.
- Certification: RAID Explorer 30 (or equivalent from a recognized agency).
- Experience: Minimum 8 hours (or at least 2 hours in some programs) logged underwater time.
- Often required: RAID Nitrox certification (or equivalent), as the course supports enriched air use.
- Complete standard RAID forms, including medical questionnaire (physician approval for any health concerns) and liability release via the User Portal.
Course Structure
Academic Section:
Self-paced on the RAID FREe-Learning platform. Covers history of deep diving, equipment considerations, physics and physiology at depth, planning procedures, and risk management. Includes digital manuals, quizzes, and final exam.
1. Academic Development
Completed via RAID’s online FREe-Learning platform. Topics include:
Practical Sessions:
Typically includes confined water skills (if needed) and a minimum of four open water training dives, progressing to 40 meters. Focus on real-world application of deep diving techniques, including optional use of Nitrox or Trimix.
No decompression stops required; remains within recreational no-decompression limits.
Duration and Depth Limits
- Theory: Self-paced online.
- Practical: Usually 2-3 days, including four open water dives (approximately 5+ hours underwater time).
- Maximum training depth: 40 meters (130 feet).
- Certification limits: No-decompression dives to 40 meters (130 feet) with a qualified buddy, in comparable or better conditions.
Equipment Provided
During training, the dive center typically supplies all required scuba equipment, including:
- Tank
- Regulator
- Buoyancy Control Device (BCD)
- Mask, snorkel, fins
- Weights
Participants need only bring a swimsuit and towel.
Certification
Successful completion earns a permanent electronic certification (e-card) from RAID, downloadable from the portal. This authorizes no-decompression recreational diving to 40 meters (130 feet) globally, with options for Nitrox or Trimix endorsements.
Next Steps to Enroll
