RAID First Aid & CPR Course
The RAID First Aid & CPR course is a non-diving (“dry”) program designed to equip divers, outdoor enthusiasts, and the general public with essential skills to respond to emergencies. It covers fundamental first aid techniques, injury assessment and management, CPR for adults, children, and infants, and care in various situations, both in and out of the water.

Prerequisites
- Minimum age: 12 years
- No prior diving certification required (open to non-divers).
- Completion of a medical questionnaire. Certain conditions require physician approval.
- For minors: Parental or guardian consent and signature on required forms if applicable.
Participants must complete or update standard RAID forms, including a liability release and safe diving practices agreement, via the RAID User Portal.
Course Structure
The course is conducted by a certified RAID instructor and combines online theory with practical sessions:
1. Academic Development
Completed via RAID’s online FREe-Learning platform. Topics include:
- Fundamentals of first aid and injury assessment
- CPR techniques for adults, children, and infants
- Management of bleeding, shock, choking, and other common emergencies
- Scene safety and emergency response protocols Students access digital manuals, complete quizzes, and pass a final exam at their own pace.
2. Practical Sessions
- Hands-on training in a classroom or dry setting.
- Skills practice including CPR, AED use (if included), bandaging, and scenario-based responses. No water sessions required.
Duration and Depth Limits
- Theory: Self-paced online (typically several hours).
- Practical sessions: Usually completed in 1 day or less, depending on the dive center.
- No depth limits (non-diving course).
- Certification: Typically valid for 2 years, with renewal recommended.
Equipment Provided
The dive center typically provides all necessary training materials, such as manikins, AED trainers, bandages, and other first aid props.
Participants may need to bring note-taking materials.
Certification
Upon successful completion, students receive a globally recognized electronic certification (e-card) issued by RAID. The certification is permanent in the portal but skills are recommended for renewal every 2 years. It qualifies for emergency response and meets RAID prerequisites for further training.

The RAID First Aid & CPR certification provides essential emergency response skills, supporting safer diving practices and fulfilling requirements for advanced RAID certifications. Note that this course focuses on general first aid and CPR; a separate RAID Oxygen Administration course is available for diving-specific oxygen provision.
