RAID Master Rescue Diver Course
The RAID Master Rescue Diver course is a continuing education program for experienced divers. It focuses on risk assessment, advanced buoyancy control, and effective response to surface and underwater emergencies up to a maximum depth of 20 meters (66 feet). The course emphasizes prevention of emergencies and prepares divers for greater responsibility, including pathways to professional-level training.

Prerequisites
- Be at least 15 years old.
- Certified as RAID Advanced 35, Deep 40, Explorer 30, or equivalent from a recognized agency (requirements may vary by dive center).
- Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Provider from a recognized authority.
- Logged underwater experience (typically 12 or more hours; varies by center and skill level).
- Completion of a medical questionnaire. Certain conditions require physician approval.
- For minors (under 18): Parental or guardian consent and signature on required forms.
- Required personal items: Swimsuit and towel (all scuba equipment typically provided by the dive center during training).
Participants must complete or update standard RAID forms, including a liability release and safe diving practices agreement, via the RAID User Portal.
Course Structure
The course is conducted by a certified RAID instructor and combines online theory with practical water sessions:
1. Academic Development
Completed via RAID’s online FREe-Learning platform. Topics include:
- Diving physics, physiology, equipment, and environment
- Risk assessment and emergency prevention
- Rescue procedures, self-rescue, and emergency management Students access digital manuals, complete quizzes, and pass a final exam at their own pace.
2. Equipment Orientation
Review and configuration of scuba equipment for rescue scenarios.
3. Practical Water Sessions
- Confined water training: Skill refinement, stamina, buoyancy, and rescue techniques.
- Open water training: Typically includes review of core skills, watermanship exercises, and simulated rescue scenarios (e.g., missing diver search, unconscious diver retrieval, surface assistance). Skills focus on prevention, real-world application, and safe emergency handling.
Duration and Depth Limits
- Theory: Self-paced online (typically several hours to days).
- Practical sessions: Usually completed over 2-4 days, depending on the dive center.
- Maximum training depth: 20 meters (66 feet).
- Certification limits: Enhanced rescue capabilities in conditions similar to or better than training, up to 20 meters (66 feet).

- Regulator
- Buoyancy Control Device (BCD)
- Mask, fins, and snorkel
- Weights
- Specialty items as needed for rescue scenarios
Participants need only bring a swimsuit and towel.
Certification
Upon successful completion, students receive a globally recognized electronic certification (e-card) issued by RAID. The certification is permanent and downloadable from the RAID portal. It recognizes advanced rescue training and supports progression to professional certifications.
