RAID Snorkelling Course

Course Structure
The course is delivered by a certified RAID instructor and combines self-paced online theory with a guided practical session:
1. Academic Development Completed via RAID’s online FREe-Learning platform. Topics include:
- Selection and proper use of mask, snorkel, and fins
- Breathing techniques, snorkel clearing, and surface diving
- Safety protocols, hazard awareness, and emergency responses
- Environmental guidelines and marine life identification
- Snorkelling in various environments (ocean, rivers, lakes, estuaries) Students access digital manuals, complete quizzes, and pass a final exam.
2. Equipment Orientation
Fitting and adjustment of mask, snorkel, and fins for optimal comfort and performance.
3. Practical Water Sessions
- Conducted in confined water (pool or calm shallow area).
- Focus on skill practice: surface swimming, snorkel clearing, mask clearing, finning techniques, and relaxed observation.
- Emphasis on building confidence, proper body position, and safe entry/exit methods.
Duration and Format
- Theory: Self-paced online (typically 2-4 hours)
- Practical session: One guided session lasting 1-2 hours
- Overall program: Easily completed in a single day or split for convenience
Equipment Provided
During training, the dive center typically supplies all required snorkelling equipment, including:
- Mask
- Snorkel
- Fins
- Rash guard or exposure protection (as needed)
Participants should bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and any personal snorkel gear they wish to use.
